Da Vinci Art Alliance
Solo exhibition by Rosiland Bloom
"Motivated initially by shock, anger, and sadness at the vigilante killing of Trayvon Martin in 2012 and the police killing of Eric Garner in 2014, I have come to believe, as James Baldwin wrote, that “If you don't look at it, you can't change it. You've got to look at it.” Liberty and Justice for all has never been a fact."
In this solo exhibition, Rosiland Bloom exhibits collages that document the ongoing fight for civil rights by non-white Americans. Speaking as a white woman, aware of the privilege she has enjoyed during her lifetime, she feels strongly that it is her responsibility to educate herself about the experiences of others and to bring light to their struggle. Through archival footage and historical objects, she will document the ongoing struggle from the 1950's to the present.
